Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast
In a large mixing bowl, combine the vegetable milk and melted coconut oil. Sprinkle the yeast and allow it to activate for 10 minutes. Then, stir in the sugar and salt.
  2. Gradually incorporate the Flour
Gradually add the flour into the mixture, about 1/2 cups at a time, stirring with a spoon at first. You may find that you need slightly more or less flour.
  3. Knead the Dough
At first, the dough will feel sticky. As you add more flour and it thickens beyond stirring, knead it for a minute or two until it forms a loose ball.\

  4. Rise the Dough
Coat the dough with oil and cover the bowl using a clean kitchen towel. Allow it to rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size. This process may take approximately 30 minutes if placed in an oven set to 30C, or about 1 hour at room temperature.
  5. Roll the Dough
On a surface dusted with flour, roll out the dough into a thin rectangle that’s about 1/2 cm (approximately 1/4 inch) thick.
  6. Fill the Dough
Brush the melted coconut oil evenly over the rolled-out dough. Then, sprinkle a generous layer of sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Shape the Rolls
Gently roll the dough tightly, ensuring the seam is facing down. Then, use a serrated knife or a piece of floss to cut the rolled dough into sections about 2.5 cm (1 inch) wide.
  8. Arrange the Rolls
Arrange the cut rolls in a round baking pan (approximately 28cm in diameter) that has been lightly oiled. You should have approximately 14 pieces. Set them aside to rest while you preheat the oven, they will continue to rise.
  9. Bake the Rolls
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the rolls for approximately 30 minutes or until they turn slightly golden brown.
  10. Brush with Maple Syrup
After baking, let the rolls cool for a few minutes. Then, brush the tops of the rolls with maple syrup.
  11. Enjoy!
These rolls are most delicious when served fresh. However, if you’d like to store them, cover them well, and they will stay good at room temperature for 1-2 days.
